Some, like the uncreative, exploited it for fame.

Some, like governments, exploited it for fear.

Some, like Marcus, exploited it for greed.

Marcus used whatever mystic power he could snatch to make greedy decisions, and make money from them. He would sell weapons, drugs, supernatural items, he even made deals with almighty occultists for more money, and every time he did, he lost a part of himself.

Every deal he made, he sold a part of himself.

Every purchase, he sold a part of himself.

Every profit, he sold a part of himself.

Until there was none of him left. He wasn’t himself anymore. He wasn’t Marcus anymore, he was Mammonalus, but he had always been Mammonalus.
